A classic British pairing. Sweet apple and savoury pork in a cider sauce — perfect for autumn.
Ingredients
- 500g diced pork shoulder
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 carrots, chunked
- 2 eating apples, cored and quartered
- 250ml dry cider
- 1 chicken stock cube dissolved in 100ml water
- 1 tbsp wholegrain mustard
- 1 tsp dried sage
- 1 tbsp plain flour
- Salt and pepper
Method
- Toss the pork in flour, salt, and pepper.
- Layer the onions, carrots, and apple in the slow cooker.
- Add the pork on top.
- Mix the cider, stock, mustard, and sage. Pour over everything.
- Cook on Low for 6-8 hours until the pork is tender.
- Serve with mashed potato and greens.
Tips
Bramley apples will dissolve into the sauce (great for a thicker result). Eating apples hold their shape better.
